The importance of developing leaders in an ever-changing world is growing as social issues become increasingly complex. Traditional leadership studies and outcomes have primarily focused on Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic (WEIRD) societies (Heinrich, 2010). However, many individuals in the U.S. and globally do not fit these characteristics. This raises the question: How can leadership be more inclusive, equitable, and just for all? This presentation will explore principles, concepts, and behaviors from a transformative feminist leadership model. Implementing these skills and actions can be challenging due to existing systemic oppressive dynamics. Examples from the presenter’s experiences will be shared, and participants will engage in exercises to reflect on how this perspective can be applied in their leadership roles.

Learning Objectives:

  1. List two principles of feminist leadership.
  2. Describe three power bases.
  3. Apply three feminist leadership concept or behaviors to the participant's current leadership role.
